Flooding is the costliest natural disaster, causing billions in damage and taking thousands of lives across the globe every year. FloodMapp delivers real-time flood intelligence to emergency managers, supporting them to prepare, respond and recover from flood events. We work with asset owners to prevent damage and streamline recovery efforts to keep lights on and roads open. We work with government agencies to improve safety and save lives through targeted evacuations, road closures, and swift water rescue. In the face of a changing climate, we help communities adapt, to increase resilience, and recover from disasters.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking expressions of interest from candidates who can improve and expand our groundbreaking flood modelling system to create a safer future. Specifically, we are looking for people with some combination of the following:

• Experience in hydrology, including model development and calibration
• Operational experience with real-time flood forecasting systems
• Understanding of machine learning and its application to hydrology with a strong foundation of mathematics and statistics
• 1D hydraulic modelling and 2D flood modelling experience with either MIKE21, TUFLOW or HEC-RAS
• Skills in GIS, data collection, manipulation, and analysis
• Experience in Python software development, particularly with experience in data science toolkits such as pandas and scikit-learn
• Other support roles such as administration, HR, finance, marketing & sales, customer support, or customer success
